Jennifer Lopez’s eye-catching engagement ring from now-fiance Alex Rodriguez has everyone talking and we got all the scoop about the gorgeous bling that the former baseball player proposed with while the couple was on vacation in the Bahamas.
The world’s first glimpse of the emerald cut engagement ring was on March 9 on social media with a photo of the rocker uploaded by both Jennifer, 49, and the former New York Yankee, 43. The background shows the beach location of where Alex popped the question to the singer.
Also it’s sweet to note that J.Lo and Alex — dubbed “J-Rod” — got engaged in Bakers Bay, Bahamas, which is the same place Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged.

Jennifer gave fans another look at her engagement ring when she stepped out with her fiancé five days later in Miami. The couple was photographed leaving a gym with the “I’m Real” singer sporting an athletic outfit and her massive, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring.
“The emerald-cut ring is widely known as the most elegant and classic cut of diamond,” one jewelry expert told People magazine. “Jennifer’s is featured on a classic solitaire band which perfectly showcases its timeless, elongated cut.”
Alex reportedly spend “several months” looking for the perfect ring for Jennifer, according to a source. The insider noted that the former MLB player “did everything on his own with the ring” and added, “It was a complete surprise [to Lopez].”
Evaluations for the ring varies since exact details on its make or jeweler have not yet been publicly revealed, according to Harper’s Bazaar. The magazine quoted Ajay Anand, CEO of Rare Carat, saying in a statement, “Our team of gemologists and diamond PhDs estimate the emerald-cut diamond is 20 carats and worth around $4.5 million. This estimate is if the stone is D-Flawless [a very rare, colorless gem]. Since it’s A-Rod, it very well could be!”
Experts suggested to People magazine that the price of the ring could range anywhere from $1 million to “upwards of $5 million,” while the diamond could be 11, 15, or 20 carats. Andrew Brown, president of WP Diamonds, thinks the price of the ring is “approaching a million dollars” and that the diamond is about 10 carats, according to E! News.
“I would imagine Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring to have a retail value approaching a million dollars,” he said in a statement. “It looks to be an emerald cut around 10 carats, likely an extremely good stone—VS in color and clarity.”
Jewelry and style expert Lauren McCawley added a similar estimate. She told E! News, “J. Lo’s new emerald cut stunner is what engagement ring dreams are made of. An approximate 15-carat diamond sparkles in a platinum solitaire setting and could easily retail for $1 Million.”
A third ring expert told E! News that Jennifer’s ring could be worth even more than $1 million. Ira Weissman, founder of The Diamond Pro, explained, “This approximately 20 carat emerald cut diamond is exquisitely cut and of superb quality. When you have an extremely rare and timelessly breathtaking stone such as this one, the goal of the ring should be to show off the rock naturally with as little embellishment as possible – the perfect compliment to the ageless enduring beauty of J.Lo. The ring is worth approximately $5 million dollars.”
Other celebrities who got emerald cut engagement rings like Jennifer’s include Beyoncé, Amal Clooney, Elizabeth Taylor and Angelina Jolie.
The couple’s engagement comes nearly seven weeks after they celebrated their two-year anniversary on Feb. 3. Jennifer and ex-husband Marc Anthony, 50, have 11-year-old twins Maximilian “Max” David and Emme Maribel, while Alex and ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, 46, have daughters Ella, 10, and Natasha, 14.
This is Jennifer’s fifth engagement and except for her very first ring in 1997, all of her engagement rings have been square or elongated rectangle shapes. Cris Judd, a choreographer whom she married in 2001 and divorced less than a year later, proposed with an emerald cut ring. Actor Ben Affleck proposed to the singer with a 6.1-carat pink diamond engagement ring (he called off their wedding four days before they were set to walk down the aisle in 2004) and Anthony proposed to Jennifer with an 8.5-carat blue diamond ring. They wed in 2003 but split two years later.
Jennifer and Alex began dating around March 2017. Alex confirmed their relationship shortly after during an appearance on The View, and they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala in May 2017.
